This sequence of paintings is a translation of Rainer Maria Rilke's "Elegy for Marina Tsvetaeva-Efron" into the language of colour and imagery, line by line. In this elegy, Rilke transcends the ordinary boundaries of human experience, the limits living and dying. I call this series "Unbroken flowers", taking a phrase from Rilke himself. To view paintings in the context of the elegy (as a slideshow), please click here.
